Sweet Talk
While peering out the back window from his car seat, Azul, out of the blue said, “Jelly Beans are perfect!” I said, “Yeah, perfect?” In amazement he turned to me and responded, “Haven’t you had them? The blue and green ones are so sweet and perfect.” I replied in agreement, “They are delicious.” He then continued, “I like some red ones, not all red ones, not cinnamon, but yes to the cherry.” It continued like that and we had a perfectly valid conversation about the perfection of Jelly Beans.
Freedom!
Back in April, Azul began insisting he dress himself, and I was fine with that, it is one less thing I have to do, but he was putting his clothes on backwards. When I would point out his “Kris Kross” style, he would say, “I like it like this.” So, okay. Well, over the last few months, he has gotten much better and his clothes are now on in the right direction. His new thing though, “going commando.” When I ask him about it, his reply is the same, “I like it like this.” Watch out Pre-school here we come!
Party Animal!
Azul just asked, “How many more days till your birthday?” I answered, “Today is Friday, tomorrow is Saturday, and the next day is Sunday — that’s my birthday.” I rarely answer his questions directly. But he got very excited. “Wow, only two more days! We better start celebrating!” Wide eyed, I nodded and said, “Now, that’s what I’m talking about.” He continued, “We should have hog dogs and watermelon, those are for parties.” Oh, my little party animal. Love it! I might make a couple of changes, I don’t eat hot dogs and will probably pour vodka on the watermelon, but YEAH, let the birthday weekend begin!
