Hard Pill to Swallow
My seasonal, Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall allergies have been killing me! I really hate taking anything, but I can’t take it anymore, everything itches and I feel like pulling my eyeballs out and scrubbing them until they feel better. Well, this afternoon I opted for a
Benadryl instead and laid down on the couch. I turned on the TV for some noise and Azul was playing with his Legos on the coffee table, so everything was under control. I was going in and out of consciousness without really falling asleep and I could hear Azul playing and going in and out of the house through the back door. Last thing I remember was him saying, “Can I go next door to play with Nadia?” I asked, “Is Gilda there and does she know you’re coming over?” He said Nadia’s mom knew, so I said he could. This gave me a chance to get some rest. Yay! When I woke up 30 minutes later, I felt awesome and went to the backyard to see what the neighbors were doing. Gilda, Nadia and Azul were all playing and having a good time. I started talking to Nadia’s mom and was informed that Azul had said, “My mommy popped a bunch pills and fell asleep, can I come over a play?” Oh my!!!!!!!
Forget me not
You know the old saying that children are psychic or have a sixth sense? Well, this afternoon, out of nowhere, Azul said to me, “Let’s hug” and he threw his arms around me. I followed his lead and hugged him back. Then he said, “I will never forget my only Mommy!” Like any responsible parent, I was thinking: Eek! What does that mean? Is that a death wish? Does he know something I don’t? Oh, my baby is going to grow up without a mother! With my eyes wide open with fear, I gave him a kiss on the head and said, “I love you too.” I guess it doesn’t help that I’m reading the new Stephen King book Doctor Sleep. He really is a sweet boy. Eek!
Disney Daze
With an Early morning wake up call for Azul, I went into his nightlight-filled room and gave him a kiss and said, “Good morning my love.” With his eyes closed he responded with, “I’m trying to get some sleep here.” I said, “Guess what day today is?” I could feel him thinking and I continued, “We’re going to Disneyland today!” In his sleepy voice he said, “Right this minute?” He needed a little more time to wake up, but once he got going he didn’t want to stop. There is nothing like going to Disneyland with a child, everything is so big and so bright and so exciting. The first on Azul’s list, Star Tours. When we walked in, we were greeted by R2-D2 and C-3PO and in amazement he gasped and said, “I didn’t know they were real!” Everything was real, even the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which he was ready to ride. I tried to explain that it was too scary, but he was ready and met the height requirement, so we went in. That didn’t go so well and when we walked out he said, “Now that I experienced it, I’ll never ride that again!” At the Matterhorn he announced, “I’m having a great day!” But, after Space Mountain he admitted, “That was a bit much for me.” We did ride Splash Mountain twice and both times with absolute joy he yelled, “I am soaked!” All in all in three days we rode 29 rides, including jumping on the bed at the hotel while watching the fireworks display. We had a blast. He is still talking about it and even said, “I want to take my son to Disneyland one day too.”
