Pez Power!

pezpicLike every other five-year old, Azul has a huge sweet tooth, and I’m sure it’s no surprise that Halloween tops the list of his favorite holidays. One of his all-time favorite candies is Pez and the combination of both is almost too much for him to take.  When I handed him a Halloween Pez dispenser for his special Halloween treat he jumped up and down in a celebratory dance and then got right to business with the packaging. He paused for a moment, looked up at me and said, “I am really becoming a big boy. I can fill a Pez dispenser, which is something four-year olds can’t do.” I replied, “Yes, my big boy, happy Halloween.”

The Force is Strong with This One

Much like Jerry Seinfeld, some of my best conversations happen in the car. So, in the car, on the way to Gram’s, we saw a “Cash for Gold” sign and Azul asked what it said. I explained what getting cash for gold was and he excitedly exclaimed, “Wow! I hope I find treasure on the beach, and gold diamonds. Then I’ll take it there and get cash!”  I don’t know what gold diamonds are or why the beach, but I enthusiastically responded, “That would be awesome!” And then asked, “How much do you think you’ll get?” He took a couple of seconds. “A hundred dollars. That would be a lot!” I followed up with, “What would you do with a hundred dollars?” Immediately, with a big smile on his face and his hands in the air, he yelled from the back seat, “Crazy! Buy Star Wars Legos of course!” I laughed, of course.

Hard Pill to Swallow

My seasonal, Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall allergies have been killing me! I really hate taking anything, but I can’t take it anymore, everything itches and I feel like pulling my eyeballs out and scrubbing them until they feel better. Well, this afternoon I opted for a pillBenadryl instead and laid down on the couch. I turned on the TV for some noise and Azul was playing with his Legos on the coffee table, so everything was under control. I was going in and out of consciousness without really falling asleep and I could hear Azul playing and going in and out of the house through the back door. Last thing I remember was him saying, “Can I go next door to play with Nadia?” I asked, “Is Gilda there and does she know you’re coming over?” He said Nadia’s mom knew, so I said he could. This gave me a chance to get some rest. Yay! When I woke up 30 minutes later, I felt awesome and went to the backyard to see what the neighbors were doing. Gilda, Nadia and Azul were all playing and having a good time. I started talking to Nadia’s mom and was informed that Azul had said, “My mommy popped a bunch pills and fell asleep, can I come over a play?” Oh my!!!!!!!
